Thank you for your interest in The Expeditionary School at Black River.  We hope you find this packet helpful in answering your questions and completing your application.  The Expeditionary School at Black River offers education to grades 7-12 in an integrated and unique manner that reflects our 4 pillars of education. We offer a challenging and meaningful academic program that balances active exploration, adventure, interrelated curriculum, authentic and joyous engagement.  The framework of the Expeditionary School at Black River follows a curriculum of expeditionary learning based on education as an expedition.  We are seeking students and families that are as excited about their education as we are about offering a great educational experience.

In late June 2023, the state of Vermont Board of Education moved forward to recognize ESBR as an Approved School. This designation allows the school to accept state tuition dollars for all students attending ESBR from choice towns, like Ludlow and Mt. Holly. The Board set the tuition of $18,266.00 for the 2023-24 school year. We invite families from non choice towns to apply for financial aid based on their own individual needs.  Please be sure to complete the financial aid section of the application and if you have any questions please contact our Gary Blodgett, ESBR Board Chair at gblodgett@esblackriveris.org.
