THE VERMONT JOURNAL

July 2, 2018; Ludlow, VT – The Ludlow-based Black River Independent School Committee, an official tax-exempt organization, is pursuing their mission to open a local independent school. BRISC has been actively working on approval from the Vermont Board of Education to establish Black River Academy, an independent school serving grades 7-12 in Ludlow and Mount Holly and beyond. The group is poised to submit the application by the end of the summer.

BRISC will host the first in a series of informational events Friday, July 6 at the Ludlow Farmers Market. Students, parents, and community members are encouraged to stop by the market with their questions and input for the committee. Additional events will take place throughout the summer and will be posted on the BRISC calendar, available to view on their website.
